I don’t know if any of you have dealt with addiction, or even just a real bad habit. In the midst of it, there’s as many occasions that you feel like folding as there are feelings that it’s too late, you’ve gone too far, etc. This song’s about the tense moments in between being spent on your fixation and turning back home to find some peace, hoping you still have a place to rest amidst the people you love and that some sort of fulfillment might flow from there.
Anyhow, I hope you guys like it, let me know!
these tired limbs have brought me miles over grounding i can’t trust still i’ve a seat at your table and i’ll fill it soon enough i will fill it soon enough
i’ve been strung out on my own game (you know you can’t deny, you grip the hurt you hide, so give in just one more time) throw in the towel before it’s too late (you can’t control the itch, with any hope or wish, there’s no sign of stopping I see) but could you fill me?
it’s fix by fix and i feel gone (a little here and there, isn’t it growing clear, you’ve no home but your hunger) with nothing sure to rely on (you’re nowhere to be found, you’ve run off too far now, beyond the reach of helping) but would you have me?
“I’ve a Seat” by Erin Gauvin. A beautiful song (done in the style of Imogen Heap) - a must-listen! I especially love the chorus and its lyrics (the part I italicized). It’s songs like these that make me want to attempt songwriting.
